Our first vacation as a family!! The three of us were thrilled we were getting away for the first time in four years as a family. We headed up right after work to Jays Peak VT. We were meeting two other families. One just back from their honeymoon two days before our get away. Another getting ready to celebrate their one year anniversary.
It was a long car ride thats for sure!! After getting off the highway in VT we were driving down the backroads enjoying the scenery. We passed this sign that says "ski resort". Marc flies by saying "we're not going to a ski resort". Mind you cell phone service is HORRIBLE at this point. The GPS is sending us to the next right. We begin our decent up this mountain road. Don't you know it begins to snow. As I'm having a panic attack because the GPS says we are suppose to be at the hotel on our left. (The left was a dirt road). Marc says it must be up here. We keep driving going higher and higher up the mountain. The snow is falling faster. Finally we give up and turn around and go back down this snowy mountain road. Remember that road that had the sign saying "ski resort"? For giggles let's go down that road. Sure enough we FINALLY arrived at Jays Peak Hotel. The hotel was rustic and grand. Seeing how excited both Blake and Marc were for a water park had already completed my weekend. Saturday morning we were obviously up at 7am. The other two couples we were with don't have kids so sleeping in for them is easy. Marc, Blake and I went for a walk in the snow after breakfast. The resort hadn't opened yet for its ski season. We eventually went back up to our room. Marc and Blake were outside on the patio which looked over the mountains that were covered in snow. Blake came in and told me I NEEDED to go outside. I complained as we had just come in from the cold. I bundled back up and walked out on the patio to find Blake jumping for joy and Marc down on one knee!! As I screamed and told him to get up as he was shivering. It was our special romantic moment. Blake was thrilled and so were we.
This weekend is going to be celebrated yearly with all three couples!! Sharing this experience with Blake and our friends will forever be remembered and know the 6 of us have something to celebrate together. |
